In recent years, many foreign standards have been simplified into three representative key performance requirements: yield strength ReL, ratio of tensile strength to yield strength Rm/Re, and total elongation of force Agt.
The yield strength ReL of steel bars is the main indicator that determines the bearing capacity and structural design of reinforced concrete structures. The strength to yield ratio Rm/Re of steel bars is a parameter used to evaluate the reliability of steel usage. The greater the strength to yield ratio, the greater the reliability and safety of steel when subjected to force exceeding the yield point. For seismic resistant steel bars, the general requirement is 1.25% or more. However, if the strength to yield ratio is too high, the utilization rate of steel strength is low, and materials are wasted. The total elongation under force, Agt, represents the ability of steel bars to withstand plastic deformation without fracture of the structure. Usually, the elongation rate A5 of steel bars after fracture only reflects the residual deformation plastic deformation ability of the local area of the necking fracture of the steel bars, while the total elongation rate Agt under force not only reflects the residual deformation of the gauge distance L0 in the local area of the necking fracture of the steel bars, but also adds the elastic deformation of the recovery. The calculation formula is as follows: Agt=[(L-L0)/L0+Rm0/E] × 100.
